Infant Enrolment

The school session begins in August.  Pupils who will be attending school for the first time, i.e. entering Primary 1, are usually enrolled in November of the previous year, following the public advertisement of the enrolment dates.  To be eligible, pupils have to reach the age of five by the end of the following February.

Readiness for primary school varies from child to child and needs to be considered carefully by parents.  Some young children may be ready for school in terms of ability but emotionally and socially are not.  It has been found that it is often the younger children who are under-achievers.  A child does NOT have to start school until the August AFTER his/her fifth birthday.  If the fifth birthday comes between 21 August 2007, and 29 February 2008, the child does NOT have to begin school until August 2008.  Please contact the school if you need further advice.

Newly enrolled children and their parents are invited to meet their new teacher in May.  In June small groups of children visit the teacher and spend time in the classroom.   In June the class teacher will visit children in nursery and playgroup wherever possible.  Children begin school on Tuesday 21 August.

Transfer from Another School

In the first instance, the parents should contact the Headteacher who will arrange a mutually convenient time for the parents and their child to visit the school.  After completion of routine admission procedures and when the pupil has been enrolled, their previous school will be contacted for the transfer of records.
